Loneliness crept up into her soul like a spider crawls gently up its web. A feeling which should be foreign to her has the odd familiarity of an old friend.
She greeted the lone empty hole which has been consuming her emotions since you left with a firm handshake and a nod. Knowing what she will have to endure, she bravely embraces her fate which has undoubtedly caught up to her.
You’d never guess by her face, the pain she was competing with. You’d never look past her superficial smile. “She’s happy”, people would always say, unaware of the inner turmoil in her head.
Because no one asked, she’d never tell. And before she knew it her only friend was herself. No one reciprocated the energy she gave and slowly but surely she was swept away.
